Deputy Chairman of the AOEU Vasil Kostritsya called on ILO to exclude russia from its members

A meeting between the Ukrainian tripartite delegation (government, employers, trade unions) and the Director-General of the ILO, Gilbert Houngbo took place in Geneva.

Vasil Kostritsya represented the employers of Ukraine as the Deputy Chairman of the AOEU. He also delivered a speech at the 111th session of the International Labour Conference, which took place at the Palace of Nations and the ILO Headquarters in Geneva.

Mr. Kostritsya thanked the International Labour Organization for not staying on the sidelines and for supporting Ukraine after the full-scale invasion by Russia. The ILO quickly adopted a resolution condemning Russian aggression and providing technical and humanitarian assistance to our country.

Furthermore, the International Labour Organization (ILO) supported the employers of Ukraine by providing consultations and expertise. The AOEU organized a six-month project to support business resilience in a state of war.

While appreciating the efforts of our partners, the employers of Ukraine remain convinced that the ILO can take an even more active position in sanctioning Russia. Specifically, by excluding the aggressor from the organization's membership and closing its office in Moscow.

"Russia is committing war crimes against Ukraine and its civilian population. Thousands of Ukrainians have become victims of unprovoked aggression by Russia, including over five hundred children," emphasized Kostritsya.

Recently, Russian occupiers caused a man-made catastrophe by detonating the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant. Hundreds of settlements have been flooded, crops destroyed, and numerous wild and domestic animals perished. There are casualties among the citizens, and thousands of people are left homeless.

Moreover, the aggressors continued shelling Kherson and its surroundings while the evacuation of the affected was taking place.

"Russia poses a threat to global order and peace," concluded the representative of the AEOU. He called for the strongest possible measures against Russia from the podium of the International Labour Conference.
