Taxes and Jobs: AOEU Demands Targeted Policy towards Sanctioned Enterprises

With the onset of full-scale armed aggression by Russia against Ukraine, our country and international partners have implemented a series of sanctions against russia and belarus.

The accounts of Ukrainian enterprises, which had ultimate beneficiaries among citizens of those designated countries, have been frozen. This is undoubtedly the right decision that prevented capital outflow into hostile budgets. However, even after getting rid of such beneficiaries, some Ukrainian enterprises remain on the so-called sanctions lists, and their accounts are still blocked according to the NBU Resolution No. 18.

"While fully supporting the suspension of payments and property rights of beneficiaries from Russia and Belarus on the territory of Ukraine, it is necessary to give domestic enterprises the opportunity to operate and pay taxes to the Ukrainian treasury. Many of them are critically important for our economy. We are talking about dozens of companies that operate in the European and global markets," emphasized Anatoliy Kinakh, the chaiman of the Association of organizations Employers  of Ukraine (AOEU), during the meeting of the Anti-Crisis Economic Stability Headquarters in the state of war.

The Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, along with the Anti-Crisis Headquarters, has already engaged in more substantive communication with the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Bank of Ukraine regarding the resolution of issues faced by such enterprises and the resumption of their operations.

However, judging by the fact that industrialists continue to address the ULIE with similar complaints, the efforts need to be significantly strengthened. The government should also be involved in the process.
